What your #1 goal while serving the Foundation?
My #1 goal while serving the Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom
is to help the board and members reach the Mission and Vision of
advancing the understanding of agriculture by increasing the scope
and effectiveness of educational tools for our customers. We have
a great team of volunteer board members and committees who are committed
to placing the Kansas Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom
as the premier source for effective agricultural educational tools
in Kansas. In addition, I will work to reinforce partnerships among
commodity groups and producers groups to blend our resources to
provide the best agriculture education to our Kansas students and
teachers.

Why is it important to educate youth on agriculture?
People in the U.S. are blessed to have an abundant and safe food
supply. Consumers need to understand and appreciate this because
it allows them to pursue other occupations besides production agriculture.
They also need to understand that many of our careers and occupations
are part of the “food chain train” of getting agriculture
products from field to table. In addition, there are many new products
including fuels that are produces from agriculture that will directly
benefit consumers by decreasing our dependence on fossil fuels.
